Account security is one of Loot in The Loft's prime objectives. It is essential that you protect your UserID and Password in order to ensure your use of Loot in The Loft is as enjoyable as possible.

If you know (or suspect) that an unauthorized person has knowledge of your account details, please take the following steps to secure your account:

Firstly, you must check with anyone who you have given access to your account, to ensure that they have not changed any details.

If you cannot Sign In, click on the register link, then on the Registration page, press the "Request New Password" button, answer your secret question and a new password will be sent to the Email address registered to your account.

Please Note: Loot in The Loft will NEVER contact you via Email requesting personal or sensitive information such as passwords. If you receive an Email purporting to be from Loot in The Loft asking for such information, please refer to the Websites Impersonating Loot in The Loft section in Help W and follow the instructions to report it.

2. Adding Pictures

Loot in The Loft offers the facility to include a picture with your listing - buyers like to see what they're getting and "a picture paints a thousand words" as they say.

Clicking on the Sell link will take you to the Sellers pages where you will find all the information you need (instructions, file browse buttons, etc.) to upload pictures to your listing.

Points to note:

Your picture file size should be as small as possible (you might want to make use of file size reduction software such as the brilliant PIXresizer to do this) so that your listing appears quickly enough for your visitiors not to become impatient waiting for it to appear.

Make sure your picture portrays your item at its best - a good, well lit picture with the item filling the frame will sell it easier and faster than a dark, shadowy one or where the item is shown small relative to the frame size.

3. Adding Your Item Description

Loot in The Loft offers the facility to include descriptive wording with your listing. Remember, this wording is the whole basis of your advertisment so be sure that you write good, explanatory titles and item descriptions as time spent at this stage will significatly improve the chances of your item being found by searches - and sold.

Buyers will be searching for words in your titles and descriptions, so try to avoid any words that won't be used in search fields. Think of what you would type if you were searching for your item.

To add descriptions to your listing, just Sign In - go to the Sellers page by clicking the Sell link and then click "Create My Listing". Your blank listing form will be shown, which you can edit and upload to our database.

The information you add to your listing in the Sell pages can be edited at any time for free!!

4. Age Requirements

All users of Loot in The Loft must be 18 years of age or older. The reason we have this requirement is that individuals under the age of 18 are sometimes the target of criminal intent. Therefore, our services are not available to children. We ask that, if you are under 18 years of age, please do not register with us - we will happily welcome you into our membership when you are. You will still be able to use our services, but only under the supervision of a parent or guardian.

NOTE: If you breach this policy, all of your current listings will be removed from sale and your account cancelled immediately with no refund of listing fees given.

Any member who believes another member to be under-age, please report them to underage@lootintheloft.com including their UserID and any other supporting information. Reporting them is for their own benefit as our policy is to protect minors from criminals.

5. Adults Only

We do not allow the listing of any erotica or sexually oriented items or material.

What do we consider to be adult or "sexually oriented" material?

"Adult" or "sexually-oriented" material includes, but is not limited to:

Any visual representation of human genitals presented in such a manner as to suggest sexual activity.
Any visual representation of any form of sexual intercourse.
Any materials clearly designed to sexually arouse the viewer/reader.
Any items which, because of their nature or because of the item description, appear to be designed for use in sexual/adult activity.
Any items which depict human sexual characteristics in a degrading fashion.
Any item that portrays frontal nudity will normally be treated as "adult" material, with limited exceptions as set out below.
Any images of nude children, including any vintage images. Recognizing that images of nude children often raise legal concerns, Loot in The Loft has made a policy decision that it will not permit the listing of any item that depicts nude minors (under 18 years of age). Listings of such material, even if described as nude "teens", "children", "youngsters" or "nudist" are not permitted.
Any items depicting bestiality, rape sex, incest, sadism, masochism or sex with graphic violence or degradation.
Any items which suggest the availability of any form of prostitution or sexual relationship, including "virtual" boyfriends or girlfriends.

What don't we consider as "adult" or "sexually oriented" material?

Material that is not considered "adult" or "sexually oriented" includes but is not limited to material which is a small and insignificant part of a catalogue, book, periodical, or other work which is not, as a whole, primarily devoted to sexual matters.

This incorporates, but is not necessarily limited to, pieces of artwork that may be considered fine art, such as certain paintings, carvings, figurines and other similar materials. Other examples include Michelangelo's David, certain (but not all) vintage pinup art, a renaissance-style painting of a nude female, and paintings like Raphael's, or nude cherubs in the form of human infants.

6. Alcohol (Policy)

We do not, under any circumstances, permit items of any alcoholic beverages to be listed on Loot in The Loft. We have this policy as the sale of alcohol is regulated by law and we want to ensure both Buyers and Sellers using our services comply with their legal obligations.

NOTE: If you breach this policy, all of your current listings will be removed from sale and your account cancelled immediately with no refund of listing fees given.

7. Animals and Wildlife Products (Policy)

We do not, under any circumstances, permit the sale of animals or their parts to be listed on Loot in The Loft. We have this policy as the sale of animals or their parts is subject to a wide rage of legislation and we want to ensure both Buyers and Sellers using our services comply with their legal obligations (and also to help protect our native wildlife).

NOTE: If you breach this policy, all of your current listings will be removed from sale and your account cancelled immediately with no refund of listing fees given. Also, where appropriate, the listing will be forwarded to the relevant law enforcement agency for action.

8. Ask Seller a Question

If you want more information than is shown on any item listing, there a number of ways to contact the Seller to ask them questions.

By far the easiest is via Email. You can obtain the Sellers Email address for the purpose of asking them questions ONLY. You MUST NOT send any unsolicited emails to any Seller other than questions regarding their sale item or offers to buy.

To ask the Seller a question, click on their item on the Buy pages then click on the "Ask Seller a Question" button.

9. Authenticity Disclaimers (Policy)

Any member selling an item on Loot in The Loft may not disclaim knowledge or responsibility for the authenticity or legality of the item they are selling.

i.e. Comments in a listing such as "I am not sure if this is genuine or not" violates our Authenticity Disclaimer policy.

NOTE: If you continue to breach this policy after fair warnings, all of your current listings will be removed from sale and your account cancelled immediately with no refund of listing fees given.
